Hives

When we began our time in the ED world one of the most common questions was if my daughter was anxious before this all started.  I always answered that no.  She was your normal, happy, 11-year-old.  If anyone of my kids was anxious it was my oldest daughter.  Now the ED has caused her to have anxiety and OCD, but I really think this will clear up once the ED is pushed out of the forefront.  My oldest daughter, however, will still have anxiety.  I got her to start meds shortly after her sister was diagnosed.  They have definitely helped, but she still has her struggles.  A recent one was this most recent Monday.  She was going to high school softball camp.  She will be a freshman in the fall, so this was all new territory for her.  What to pack, what to pack in, what they were doing there, who she would be rooming with.  When I got to the school to drop her off at the bus Monday morning, she took some deep breaths before she got out.  But she was fine, or so I thought.  About 30 mins later she sent me a picture of her hands and legs.  She had broken out in hives.  From stress.  I told her to try to relax and take some deep breaths.  If they got worse, I told her to ask if anyone had Benadryl.  She made it to camp and got her room assignments, which she was happy about, and the hives were almost gone by bedtime.  This is my anxious child.
