We made it home from 8+ weeks in PHP round 2. And the restriction started immediately. One time was “my fault” as she was eating lunch and said she was eating like a pig. I told her she was not eating like a pig she was eating like a person that wanted her life back. Well, that was apparently the WRONG thing to say. So, she was done. Done with lunch. And done eating for the day. Oh yes, I also found half of her sandwich shoved in the cubby of my car on the way home. I had packed sandwiches for dinner. But this was also apparently my fault as she did not watch me make the sandwich. Therefore, she could not eat the sandwich. Then her last day at home she wouldn’t eat afternoon snack simply because she had been eating too much. Luckily, we started a PHP closer to home on Tuesday. My first impressions were good. I liked both her dietician and her therapist. She restricted dinner Tuesday evening. Wednesday, I met the doctor. I also really liked her. Wednesday she also restricted dinner. Thursday morning, I met with her dietician and therapist, and we strategized ways to get her to complete dinner. She ate dinner Thursday and gets to come home 30 minutes early because of it. The communication is so much better than ERC. They also think her weight needs to go higher. Which I had also been pushing ERC for. So far, I have no idea why my outpatient team would be so against McCallum place. My guess is that had a bad experience 30 years ago and don’t realize places and the people who work their change. Especially now! The only thing I wish is that I would have moved her sooner. We maybe could have made more progress instead of being in a stand still. But that’s the past. We must look forward. And did I mention she gets to do equine therapy 2 days a month. And different employees bring their dogs in on different days. Now she’s there 9-7, 7 days a week. And it’s an hour and fifteen-minute drive. So, she doesn’t get much time at home, but she does get to see her animals and her sisters and sleep in her own bed. I on the other hand added another full-time job to my already full schedule, but I’ll gladly drive 35 hours a week if it helps her to recover.
