I’ve been doing a lot of reading and learning about the use of psychedelics and the mental illnesses they can help treat. This was actually studied back in the 50s with very promising results. All researched was stopped when the war on drugs began and we lost years of progress. But it’s back, and it is really exciting. There is a resort in Mexico in the early planning stages for a retreat for people with eating disorders to come try psychedelics in a controlled environment. You’ll have to be 14 they’ve told me. My daughter will be 14 the end of August. That is only 7 months away and considering they are just starting the planning stages I am hopeful. The University of San Diego and San Francisco are both working on some clinical trials as well. I’m not sure they will take someone as young as my daughter, but I can still follow the results. I feel like we maybe on the edge of a major breakthrough. That’s exciting when you’ve tried so many other options without any results. The next problem. Getting her to participate. I’ve already been working on possible bribes, and stories I can spin to convince her to give it a try. She’s not going to be easy, but I’m hopeful I have time to convince her. Someday we’ll hopefully have more treatment options and they’ll be more mainstream. Like I was telling a friend the other day, I’m sure there are possible adverse reactions to the drugs, but we know there are definite negative effects of malnutrition on your body. Which is worse? Who can say?
