This Crazy Life

I am not religious.  Our family is not religious.  My kids do believe in God at different levels.  My mother-in-law is very religious, very catholic.  She seems to think my daughter has a spirit attached to her and prayer will fix this situation.  She’s been watching you tube videos.  I told her she could do whatever made her happy, but that Carrigan would not be participating.  I thought she understood.  Until we were in the hospital, and she wanted to send her priest to visit with her.  Convince her to get baptized, which she is not completely opposed to being baptized but she does not want to be baptized Catholic.  She then got my daughter a necklace that she had blessed.  It’s to ward off spirits and demons.  My daughter was so upset.  This is not a demon.  This is not a spirit.  If this was cancer, she wouldn’t act like that.  Does she not think I’m actually sick?  I’ve told her (what a good friend told me) that nana loves her very much and this is nana’s way of trying to help.  You don’t have to worry about how she’s doing it, just remember she loves you and wants you better too.  That seems to have helped.  For now.
