This Crazy Life

What would you do if you found messages between two of your teenagers essentially bashing you as both a mother and a person.  So that might be a little extreme for what happened.  But none the less it happened.  And it sucked.  I’m not the prying type.  My kids typically come to me anyway.  I had access to a phone and I looked through some text messages.  To my surprise, there was a lot of negative talk about me.  I tried to hold it in, I tried not to say anything.  I didn’t want them to know I invaded their privacy.  But then I just had it.  I couldn’t pretend to be nice and happy anymore when it was eating at me from the inside.  They of course claimed most of it was sarcastic and said in fun, not serious.  Which I’m sure there is some truth to that, but they still thought it.  Thought it enough to put it in writing between the two of them.  I still think about it more than I should.  And it’s changed how I interact with them I think is the right word.  Anyway, if you found text messages amongst your teens talking bad about you what have you done?  What would you do?  Short of throwing the phone away and grounding them for life, which I don’t really think is a good option, I have not done anything.  Maybe that’s stupid of me.
