My daughter with ED currently isn’t talking to me. She had a doctor’s appointment on Monday where the notes were that the bit she had increased her calories this past month was the only reason she was staying out of the hospital and she needed to increase more. I mean pretty par for the course. Well she calls me after midnight. Wakes me up from my sleep, to ask me if she can go to Hot Worx on Thursday. Mind you, this is Monday night, well I guess Tuesday morning now. So why we need to talk about it now I have zero idea. And I told her just that. I told her I didn’t think it was a good idea and we probably should talk to her doctor, first, but after her comments on Monday I don’t think she’s going to go for it and we should probably focus on increasing her calories for the time being. She starts arguing. I tell her I’m not arguing with her in the middle of the night for something she wants to do days away. And I end the conversation. She then starts texting me. I ignore it. The next morning I text her my thoughts. And now we’re not talking. I obviously do not think Hot Worx is a good idea. But then on the other hand I want to tell her fine, go. I don’t care at this point. Part of me thinks a trip back to the hospital might be a good idea. She’s made a lot of improvement, but when you actually stop and think about it, she’s made a lot of accommodations so she can sort of survive in the real world. She’s never going to do more than the absolute minimum. She’s not going to be free. So let her push the boundaries. Let her realize on her own. So maybe that’s what I need to do more of.
