Mid-Life Crisis

Have you ever had a mid-life crisis?  Or know someone that did.  I think I’m having a true mid-life crisis.  Like the kind of crisis you read about in smut books or watch on documentaries about the person that snapped and killed everyone.  So, I don’t think I’m going to actually kill anyone.  But I can understand how people do.  Luckily even in my crisis state I still have self-control.  But seriously I’ve been considering a career change.  Going back to school.  Moving to Europe.  Heading to a beach.  All of these things sound like actual things I could legitimately do.   Have a one-night stand.  Quit my job and live in a box on the side of the road.  I don’t know.  I’ve never been adventuresome and I’ve lived in my little hometown basically since I was 16 aside from a year and a half in a different smallish town for college.  I’ve been with my husband since I was 19.  We’ve been married for 22 years.  I’ve been doing some deep diving on midlife crises.  They are actually way more common than you think at this age.  For these very reasons.  Your kids are growing up.  You have more time.  You want to find what actually excites you.  And it’s probably way different than what excited you when you were 20.  Hence the career change, hobbies, etc.  The percent of people that end of up having affairs at this age is even more staggering.  Just do some searching on a reddit forum.  Or google.  Or ask chatgpt.  They’ll tell you just how common it is.  For now, I’m going to try to reinvent myself in small ways and see if that will suffice.  Otherwise, we just might have to start making some bigger changes!
